The orthopedic practice of Shaun E Chandran, MD and Rama E. Chandran, MD provides treatment for a range of orthopedic conditions. Our orthopedic surgeons in Torrance, Hawthone and San Pedro California performs the following orthopedic procedures:

  • Hip Joint Replacement – We offer minimally invasive surgery (MIS) hip replacement using a direct anterior approach, as well as a robotic-assisted partial hip replacement to treat severe hip pain.
  • Knee Joint Replacement – We provide knee implants designed to resist wear and last longer. We also offer robotic-assisted partial knee replacement. Both procedures can alleviate pain and promote easier motion on the knee.
  • Shoulder Joint Replacement – We treat injured or arthritic shoulders through our computer-assisted shoulder joint replacement surgery.

We also offer Torrance orthopedic and sports medicine resources and links to the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) to guide you in understanding the science and practice behind the promotion of health and exercise. Apart from Torrance, we also provide our services in two other locations: Hawthorne and San Pedro.

What is MAKOplasty?

MAKOplasty is a robotic arm assisted Total knee resurfacing procedure designed to relieve the pain
caused by joint degeneration due to osteoarthritis (OA).

Dr Shaun utilizes technologies such as robot assisted surgery and computer
navigation to enhance patient care.

Dr. Shaun E. Chandran specializes in the treatment of a variety of orthopaedic conditions and performs several orthopaedic procedures including:

  • Joint Reconstruction
  • General Orthopaedics

Dr. Shaun E. Chandran completed his undergraduate degree at Cornell University and finished medical school at the New York Medical College. Shaun fulfilled his orthopedic surgery residency at Stanford University and underwent a hip and knee replacement fellowship program at the Massachusetts General Hospital. Apart from his medical practice, he teaches as an assistant clinical professor of orthopedic surgery at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

Dr. Rama E. Chandran, on the other hand, finished medical school at the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (J.I.M.P.E.R) in Pondicherry, India. Rama completed both his internship and general surgery residency at the New York Medical College. Additionally, he fulfilled his orthopedic surgery residency at the Columbia University.

Both surgeons conduct their medical practice at these hospitals: Beach District Surgery Center, Centinela Hospital, Torrance Memorial Medical Center, and Little Company of Mary Hospital both in Torrance and San Pedro. Furthermore, they are board certified by the American Board Orthopedic Surgery.
